Professional Massage Therapists Offer Health and Fitness
If you are ready to start feeling strong and healthy, or are eager to improve your overall health and fitness, massage therapy can be an integral part of your plan. Registered Massage Therapists in BC have the highest educational standards in North America. Massage Therapy has been an integral part of health care in BC since it was first regulated under the Health Professions Act in 1946.
Our areas of training include all aspects of the musculoskeletal system as well as neurology, physiology, pathology, kinesiology, remedial exercise and the list goes on and on. Massage therapy can be beneficial in the treatment of a wide variety of conditions including arthritis, chronic stress, prenatal care, neck and back pain, headaches and many other soft tissue injuries. Individual therapists in our office are able to bring a wide variety of skills to your health care plan. Mandatory continuing education, governed and regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of BC, allows therapists to follow their areas of interest while maintaining and expanding on the skills we bring into every treatment we offer our clients.
Our registered massage therapists have ridged requirements which include a minimum of 3000 hours of training, the highest standards in North America and are registered with a regulatory body that ensures the public receives safe, ethical care. We also have a requirement of mandatory continuing education and upgrading. Our clinic also requires that each therapist has the education to recognize when a patient may need to see a doctor.
Other techniques that our professional clinical therapists offer include:
Stretching of the connective tissue around muscles, bones and joints to restore normal length and function.
Muscle Energy Therapy
Positioning of the patient so that his/her own gentle muscle contractions will restore normal, pain-free movement at joints in the spine and pelvis.
Reduction of fluid build-up and swelling after injuries such as sprains or fractures, or after surgery, to relieve pain and speed healing.
The application of heat and/or cold to augment the other treatment modalities.
The personalized 'homework' after each treatment, so the patient can continue stretching, strengthening and re-aligning between treatments, increasing the rate of recovery.
The initial visit consists of a 10 minute assessment and a 30 minute massage treatment.
Note: M.S.P. provides partial coverage for 10 combined visits per year; i.e. acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, naturopathic, podiatry and physiotherapy (a combined total of 10 visits) for those on income or premium assistance. Please call for more information.
ICBC and WCB may partially cover massage therapy fees. Extended heath insurance plans usually cover up to a yearly limit.
